Peak Performers has partnered with a Texas State Agency to assist in their search for a remote Senior Snowflake Data Engineer. In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the transition of reporting and data-extract capabilities from legacy mainframe IMS systems to the future cloud or data-lake environment. 

Major duties

• Collaborate with data engineers and architects to ensure proper data modeling, schema design, and transformation logic in Snowflake.
• Validate data quality and reconcile source to target results across Mainframe, Lonestar, Open Systems, and Snowflake environments.
• Develop data conversion and system implementation plans. 
• Prepare and obtain approval of system and programming documentation.  
• Design a new database scheme to persist data from the requirements and technical  
• Support the creation of Power BI datasets, semantic models, and dashboards using Snowflake as the primary data source. 
• Troubleshot data issues across the full pipeline from Lonestar or Open System extract to Snowflake load to Power BI visualization. 
• Document technical processes, data flows, and system dependencies. 
• Work closely with business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and translate them into technical solutions. 
• Participate in code reviews, testing cycles, and production support activities.

What are we looking for?

• 8+ years of hands-on experience with Snowflake, including SQL, data loading, transformations, and performance tuning.
• 4+ years of experience with ETL/ELT concepts, data pipelines, and data integration patterns.
• 5+ years of experience analyzing complex data flows and troubleshooting issues across multiple systems.
• 4+ years of experience with enterprise information management processes and methodologies, relational database management systems, and metadata management.
• 2+ years of experience working in fast-paced, changing environments while meeting project deadlines and developing solutions to complex issues.
• 2 years of experience working effectively with multiple stakeholders, including negotiating, resolving conflicts, and maintaining relationships across organizational levels.

• 3+ years of experience with Informatica, Matillion, Azure Data Factory, or similar data integration tools.
• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in data processing, computer science, business administration, or a related field.

• Rate: $68.00/hour

• W2 Contract

• Worksite Location: Remote

• Contract through August 31, 2027 with the opportunity for extension
